It would be foolish to suggest practices should continue just because they have been in place for a long time. But then again, why should every change be excused by the offer to increase choice?
Whenever ‘choice’ is bandied around I know I will probably be offered a lot more of something I don’t want.
So it is with scepticism that I heard of the proposed library closures throughout the county. Closing libraries will, of course offer a better service, so they claim.
The county is also looking into its provision for the elderly, and offering ‘choice’ and possibly ‘independence’ to those who need care in their old age will probably mean that they will be charged.
What a spin we’re in.
