Friday night’s alright for fighting

March 8th, 2006

I have to say, it was a good day. I didn’t have to use my, erm, table leg?
Yup, Ice Cube would¹ve appreciated the hefty haul of homemade weapons seized by police on Friday night after being tipped off that around 60 teens were planning a ruck in the centre of Plymstock.
More than 20 cops piled in to the South-West Side Story-style face-off, breaking up rival gangs from Plymstock School (hooray!) and Coombe Dean (boo!).
The kids were apparently armed with weapons including table legs, wooden clubs and a hockey ball wrapped in a sock.
One of the officers involved in the ’swoop’, Sgt Dan Ivey, observed: ‘If any of these weapons had been used, it is quite possible that somebody may have been badly hurt.’
You don’t say.
Luckily, voice of reason Andy from Wolves, has the answer to this age-old problem.
He told thisisplymouth.co.uk: ‘There is no excuse for violence under any circumstance. The perpetrators should be flogged as an example to other wrong doers.’
I think we can all agree, that’s the kind of logic which made this country what it is today.
