Pete Doherty’s a one, isn’t he viewers? He’s on his way to Plymouth (terms and conditions apply) for a ’show’ with his ‘band’ Babyshambles at the Pavilions on April 26.
But who is this man Doherty? If you’ve completely ignored all the fawning coverage in the broadsheets, tabloids and NME, and shut your eyes and sung: “Da da da, I can’t hear you” whenever he was on the telly, there’s a very good chance you know nothing about him.
So here’s some fascinating facts about everyone’s favourite moonfaced troubadour for you to cut out and keep.
FACT: Born Pete Doherty in 1942, Pete Doherty is better known by his stage name Pete Doherty.
FACT: Pete used to be in a group called The Liberal Democrats with Carl from Neighbours.
FACT: Their first album was called What A Racket.
FACT: Doherty had a top ten hit called Four Lovers, written by Wolf from Gladiators.
FACT: The name Babyshambles came about when a drunken Pete had trouble ordering a drink at a wedding.
FACT: Their latest elpee is all about Pete’s love for the 80s soap Albion Market.
FACT: Doherty became infamous when the tabloids discovered he was having a relationship with Sterling Moss.
FACT: Pete is always up for the craic.
FACT: There are no more facts.
