Chief concern

Wooooooooah… Kaiser Chiefs are coming to Plymouth for a show at the Pavilions on April 24.

But how much do we actually know about these mysterious Kaiser so-called Chiefs? If you’ve poked your eyes out with bread sticks and chopped your ears off like Van Gogh there’s a very good chance you know nothing about them.

So here’s some fascinating facts about everyone’s favourite ruddy-faced rockers for you to cut out and keep.

FACT: Lead singer Ricky Wilson shot to fame on the BBC sitcom One Foot In The Grave.

FACT: His well-known catchphrase inspired the band’s first hit Oh My God I Don’t Belieeeeeeve It.

FACT: Wilson is now sick of this phrase - so much so that when young fans ask him to repeat it, he kicks their little faces off.

FACT: Police rely on Wilson to tip them off about any upcoming riotious activity in the area via a special phone.

FACT: The Kaiser Chiefs are from Leeds.
FACT: There are no more facts.

Law of the land

Yes, ok, so we’re late for once rather than early and it came out on April 5.

Here’s the press release that came out of MEP Graham Watson’s office.

“The European Commission is to take legal action against the British Government for failing to comply with EU legislation promoting renewable electricity.

Commenting on this, Graham Watson, Lib Dem Euro-MP for the South West and Gibraltar said:

‘The launch of this legal action is a damning indictment of Labour’s record on the environment. It has been exposed as less green and more dirty brown.

‘Is it any wonder that greenhouse gas emissions have risen since Tony Blair came to power when his Government is not even taking the steps to encourage renewable electricity required by EU law?’ ”

The Lib Dems put themselves up as the greenest party there is. Let’s hope this is more than just political point scoring and comes from a real commitment to offer power choices.
