Put paid to it
Two-mayors Torbay council is in trouble again. This time the officials, not the councillors, are the source of the disturbance - phew.
Thanks to the freedom of information act, that bastion of investigative journalism (shop a thug, anyone?) the Herald Express has uncovered payments of £700,000 to officers it claims should have been ’sacked’ rather than ‘paid off’.
Sounds bad. But is it? We wait to hear, but I suspect freedom of information only goes so far.
