Me or us
I was already becoming a fan, but when I read they had ‘the aim to challenge and promote the sense of individuality in the pursuit of the collective’ there was no turning back.
Nina Jan Beier and Marie Jan Lund’s exhibition You us or you me - at the Spacex Gallery, Exeter, until July 15 - explores the problem of whether the you is you on your own or you with the people in your group (I just use ‘yous’ to avoid such a problem, but each to their own).
Amusing and interesting, as well as posing wider questions, make sure you catch it before it’s too late. And check out their site for more of the pair’s work.
There’s loads of stuff going on to accompany the show (check out the Spacex site for details) and I’m just smarting that I didn’t get to have breakfast of coffee and Danish pastries with the two artists. As they’re from Denmark I wanted to ask if they just call them pastries. . . among other things.
The pair are part of the Janfamily, who are also worth a look.
