The Exeter Phoenix is rising, well, err phoenix like, to become. . . to become. . . ok, so it’s got a terrace.
But first things first, it’s got new classes for the wee uns that we know (children). Tomorrow there’s a music and movement class for children aged 6 months to 5 years will and yoga classes for babies aged 1-10 months and for children aged 2-4 years will be starting on Thursday, September 13.
Then on Tuesday there’s the coolest of cool monthly film events, the Creative Collective at the media centre, where you get to see things you cannot imagine.
And on Wednesday there’s Boeuf Stroganoff with a free film thrown in, or some such meal deal thing if you fancy Seducing Dr Lewis, that is.
If that ain’t enough there’s the terribly exciting Manhattan Short Film Festival on September 19.
Then there’s what’s coming up. . . Gretchen Peters, the Guillemots, the Infadels, Mark Thomas, more Scratch, Civil - based on Quentin Crip’s Naked Civil servant, and How to Hug Trees by Exeter’s own stunning Theatre Alibi, from whom more next week.

According to the Totnes Festival’s website, British Airways claims Totnes to be one of the top ten funkiest towns in the world, and whether we believe this major polluter or not (although any organisation that caused such irate hanky-dropping by Lady Thatcher can’t be all bad), the town is in the midst of its ten days of festival.
But what to do? Our highlight of the day, nay entire festival is our mate Brett Hornby’s saxaphone odyssey. See them tonight at the Royal Seven Stars Hotel, Totnes, at 8pm. Entry £7/£4.

If you’re up in the Old Smoke, Londinium, Laaardon Tahhn, or whatever you want to call it, you could do worse than pop into the Sensuous Panorma exhibition at the Lounge (take the bus 67,76,149,236,243 (from where?) /Rail Dalston Kingsland/Tube Highbury & Islington, then bus 30).
Why would you do that rather than gawk at the Diana Memorial Fountain? Because Sensuous Panorama features Plymouth’s own Josie McCoy, that’s why!
It’s not just because she watches loads of TV and film that we like Josie’s work - although that’s not a bad reason. It’s because she captures an element of each of the people she paints within the confines of their roles, and the screen, and the media facade. And the pictures glow people, they glow!
And anyway, if you miss this show you’ll have to catch it in Seoul (that’s South Korea). It runs until September 24 and is open Wednesday-Sunday 1-6pm, or by appointment.
