Listen up

Have you listened to the Melting Pot Session yet in our Downloads section? Fantastic, ain’t it? It’s a full forty minutes of fun and it’s brought to you exclusively by the PRSD. Yes, we said ‘exclusively’, so don’t go looking on the Daily Mail website or sumfing cos you won’t find it there. Capiche?

Anyhoo, here’s what organiser (and all round ‘good egg’) Nikki Portus had to say about the event on the lovely Melting Pot MySpace page. You could dig it out yourselves, but hey, we’ve saved you the time.

“Well, we’ve done it. The first show has been recorded and is online now at the People’s Republic.

“It was the most awesome live session from Nixon And The Burn - so much so the neighbours complained about noise levels! They gave a really tight performance and sounded amazing… even more so as drummer Dan has only been with them for just over a month.

“The band gave the most fantastic interview. They were really sound guys and I can’t wait to work with them again.

“There were plenty of fuck-ups from me fluffing my lines, lots of swearing, laughing, drinking and smoking… a bat in the loo, an irate neighbour… it was all going on… and the band Supenik were there in the studio audience and they still wanna come back!

“It was also a brilliant networking night for everyone which is totally what we wanted. The wine and beer flowed and the chat went on way after we had stopped recording… lots of different opportunities for different people have come out of this already… spot on!”

Well, we couldn’t have put it better ourselves. The PRSD sends a big thank you out to Nikki and Tim for all their hard work, as well as to the beezer Nixon And The Burn for, y’know, actually turning up.

As for the rest of yous, we’d strongly advise you look out for the next Melting Pot sesh in a coupla weeks. You know it makes sense.

Planting memories

You want to remember? Plant a tree.

More trees are to be added to the 8,000 planted last year at Conqueror Wood as part of the Trafalgar 200 celebrations by Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust et al.

Remembrance tree planting will take place on Saturday, November 18. You get a certificate and can take part in the planting ceremony (yeah, right, as the Chemical Brothers once said - dig your own hole), all for the princely some of £40. Apparently, the wood’s very popular with visitors to the Woodland Burial Site (another case of dig your own hole).

Or, if you prefer, there are a few places left in the remembrance orchard - make cider with your memories. You get a plaque with these, but at a cost £250. Planting here will take place on November 22.

Go on, branch out (tee hee).
