Small is affordable
Let’s play a game. I give you a list of artists, you find their work in Devon. Here’s a clue, they’re all at the Red Propellor Gallery in Kingsbridge from tonight. And their brief was to make something small, make something affordable and push the envelope (whatever that means).
Prudence Walters, Kristina Bieganski, Aleksandra Jarosz Laszlo (BP Portrait Award Finalist 2006), Verity Newman, David Michael Anslow, Janet Mitchell, Louise Dear, Lucianne Lassalle, Julian Christophers, Sonja Benskin Mesher, Charlotte Chance, James Stewart, Lilian Delevoryas, Adrian Baker, Mike Boyer, Lou Baldwin, Mike Nuth and Dan Petley, Maria Morris, Jane Macartney, and there are more. See if you can match up the artist to their art. And here’s an added task - take a picture of the artist and put it in the PRSD’s very own gallery. You don’t even have to reveal their identities - let’s get creative people!
If you’re still hung up on names, try this one Lydia Corbett, an artist in her own right, she was featured in the Girl with a Ponytail series in the 1950s by Picasso (now that got you interested).
On Saturday November 18 she’ll be on hand to talk about what it’s like to be an artist and a model to Picasso.
The show runs from today to December 23 at Red Propeller Gallery in Kingsbridge.
