Pet-ty cash

Plymouth’s Woodside Sanctuary is appealing for citizens of the People’s Republic to sponsor their resident animals - and the good news is, the scheme has nothing to do with sitting in a bath of baked beans with a puppy.

The trust relies heavily on public support and is hoping the idea will raise some much needed funds. Woodside rehouses approximately a thousand animals a year and even has a specialised old animals unit for cats and dogs - where they probably sit around smoking pipes and watching Countdown.

Carol Bowles MBE, founder of the Woodside Trust, told PRSD: “It’s not just cats and dogs which can be sponsored. We also have pot-bellied pigs, goats and our resident sheep. Being the only rescue centre in the area which helps smaller animals we are hoping that people will choose to support us.”

Anyone interested in sponsoring an animal shoud give Woodside a shout on 01752 347503.
