Acts of congress

Workers being ripped off by their bosses? In this day and age? Surely not! Like duh. Next week the South West TUC will discuss how to prevent such behaviour at its yearly conference.
Nigel Costley, regional secretary of the South West TUC, said: “Workers in the south west are ripe for exploitation, whether they’re working for gangmasters in the fields, or behind the scenes in hotels, restaurants and guest houses. Workers at risk from rip-off employers include young workers and those in disadvantaged groups.

Nigel added: “Trade unions are all about standing up for the vulnerable, giving them a voice. This conference is about the nuts and bolts issues of how we do that.”

The conference will also discuss the future of public services, transport in the region, climate change and other issues.

When else could other people’s acts of congress be so interesting?
