Stop the traffik!
Leftist campaigners in the People’s Republic are getting ready to march on Plymouth’s Mutley Plain to raise awareness of the horrors of human trafficking, forced labour and slavery.
As part of the international ‘Stop the Traffik’ movement, they will be chatting to passing proles and raising awareness of the 12 million people whose lives are affected by human trafficking, forced labour and modern slavery.
The march, on Saturday, March 24, has been set up ahead of Freedom Day on March 25, and ties in with the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade.
Wendy Bray, spokesperson for the Mutley campaign, told Plymouth’s The Herald: ‘These trafficked people are not just statistics. They are someone’s daughter, someone’s son, someone’s mother, and the trade they have been herded into deprives them of freedom, dignity and often of their lives.
“It’s illegal, it’s morally wrong - and it is growing. People trafficking will not go away unless we act, just as slave trade abolitionists acted two hundred years ago.”
