Inefficiency is rejected by south west homeowners. The legion of home builders who build energy inefficient homes were dealt a warning blow when a survey from More Than (and no, we don’t care for their funny little > sign instead of ‘a’) insurers revealed less than a third of those asked would be prepared to live in an inefficient new build – or is all this us just reading between the lines with our rose-tinted specs?
The survey also said just 20 per cent would be willing to pay £500 more to live in an efficient home, whereas more than 70 per cent thought homes should be efficient. You’re right – it just doesn’t add up. Amazingly, 76 per cent said they’d improve their homes’ energy effciency if it cut their council tax bill (there wasn’t a question about selling your grandmothers to reduce your council tax, nor was there one about grandmothers being able to pay council tax, but there were quite a few questions about insuring your grandmother against council tax, or did we m>ke that up?)
Either way, the green homes issues is going up the agenda – thanks More Th>n for pointing it out
