The countdown is on to the blast off of Niki MCretton’s Space 50, the epic tale of 50 years of space exploration, at the Exeter Phoenix.
So what’s it all about? Surely these people don’t craft for themselves a real spaceship and zoom off to Mongo and such like? Err, no. But there are two (count them) live performances featuring animation, film and an original score. The words have been written by Andrew Smith (author of best-seller Moondust about nine of the astronauts who walked on the moon), and Niki McCretton even trained at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre.
Catch Space 50 at the Exeter Phoenix on Tuesday, May 15 at 8pm for an astronomic (or down to earth, depending on your situation) £9, £7 concession.
(The Exeter Phoenix is also asking for citizens of the People’s Republic to send in the memories of significant moments of man’s journey into space. They will be collated into a short booklet and be available at the performance. If you have any outer world experience send them to programming@exeterphoenix.org.uk)
