Dead good
This month marks the 10th anniversary of the Cemetery Of The Year competition, which strives to raise standards in burial grounds and reward those who maintain our local burial sites.
All entrants are assessed on a wide range of criteria including the level of maintenance, available facilities, imaginative landscaping and community involvement.
This year special emphasis will be placed on ‘green’ or environmentally friendly burial sites. All entries are placed before a panel of assessors, and will be shortlisted for site visits.
The compo is open to all burial sites including cemeteries, crematoria, churchyards, green burial sites, and even pet cemeteries.
Last year, the Penwith Woodland Burial Place, in Penzance, was runner-up in the Green Burial Sites category.
Entry forms can be downloaded here.
Burke and Hare need not apply.
