Free training

If you’ve hit that glass ceiling on the first ladder and you think you need a little extra training, then by golly your luck’s in.

A free course is on offer to any and all of those in Devon in manufacturing who fancy getting an NVQ.

The courses are designed for those already in work and keen to get on a bit. A travelling tutor will pop into your work, set work and pop off again, leaving you free to fit in your real-life tasks in a real-life situation.

The courses are being provided through Train to Gain, from the Learning and Skills Council. Oh, and did we mention they are free – to both staff and employers, so listen up people.

It’s now that we start going on about life-long training, the importance of education, and so on and so forth. But mainly, if anyone can get any sort of training out there, grab it with both hands. Seems to us here at the People’s Republic of South Devon most employers aren’t that keen on developing their staff’s abilities.

There are a few criteria – mainly to do with qualifications, you cannot possess five GCSE grades A-C and so on, but for the real gen get in touch with manufacturing info queen Claire Bennett at Ethos Direct, email claire.bennett@thomson.com or call 01606 721782.

Oh, and when you’re paying that higher rate in tax, don’t begrudge the rest of us.
