From the Baka Beyond

If ever there was a tale of naturally-rhythmic-musical-uplifting-community-based success, the Baka Beyond and Baka Gbine has it. In a kind of fair trade through tunes operation, these tribal people of the Cameroon forests have developed their innate musical talents into a world touring phenomenon that ploughs funds back into the community.

Apparently, they have been able to win land rights and recognition as Cameroonian citizens as well as funding of the own medical centre and a music house.

You can catch up with the tunes in the live performance at The Ariel Centre, Totnes on Wednesday, July 18. The singing starts at 8pm and tickets are a tenner.
