Ring the changes
Did you know 38 per cent of people from the South West feel the increased use of community websites and blogging can help stimulate local action? (Judging from our figures lately that’s nearly all you guys, so kudos to you.) This startling revelation is just part of 02’s Community Spirit report, which found that local people thought local action would make a local difference - was it a multiple choice survey, by any chance?
Which is all just a precursor to 02 throwing money at these ‘local’ issues to the ring tune of £1 million in its It’s Your Community award programme. All you have to do is apply on line for awards from £100 to £1,000, in one of the four categories Places, People, Pride and Landscape, and examples include restoring the natural beauty spot of The Glen in Honiton.
And, err, one of those oh-so-important community blogs could do with sponsorship… or at least free texts.
For more details, visit the It’s Your Community website, or call 0800 90 20 250, and let us know how you get on.
