What a Chav-ez

For those of us who haven’t been lucky enough to find Michael Moore’s Sicko as we trawled the web, this CNN interview, which we picked up through Inveresk Street, is quite illuminating.

Sicko is Moore’s unspinning of the USA’s abysmal health care system. Do we need to know more than the richest country in the world doesn’t have free health care for its citizens? And this is the type of system we believe is earmarked to replace the NHS.

Moore takes on the credibility of the reporting in the CNN piece which attacks his film and at the end of the clip is called ‘more leftwing than Hugo Chavez‘ - oil to Red Ken, and closing down certain TV channels, what could be sweeter?

Doff’s off

Wave goodbye to one of the early ‘investigators’ of The People’s Republic of South Devon. Doff Pollard, Teignbridge District Council Arts Development Officer, is leaving the council to pursue her career up north.

Doff Pollard Of Teignbridge Council, as she came to be affectionately know to us, was one of the first to pick up on our arts coverage and actively encourage participation in as many art and cultural events throughout the region as possible. She was a driving force behind the Nine Days of Art, and chairs the Devon Artists Network for the county-wide Devon Art Works open studios exhibition in September.

She’s off to the Tees Valley. Shame.
