The Great Create
August 5th, 2007
The Torquay house that has always been a mystery - Agatha Christie’s Greenway mansion - has opened its doors for The Great Create arts festival, which runs until September 1. We mention it now because August 9 is public art day.
The event is free and runs all day. And you’re intvited to go and make and paint the public art with professional artists.
There will be an Indian and Nepalese poetry evening, with sitar player Max Flury, and poet William Oxley. And then there will be a willow lantern procession. Followed by the cinema event. Phewee.
This is just one of the days that is slathered in art, there’s loads more. Even our the PRSD’s favourite harpist is trundling along to beguile the crowds - Elizabeth Jane Baldry will play on August 24.
Check out The Great Create website for more details, and while you’re at it take your hat off to Emma Carter, who organised the event.
