The Torbay Development Agency (those for whom regeneration, marine services and tourism are key work areas – which are enhanced by, amongst other things, facts and figures) is having its third annual conference on Wednesday (November 14) with a whole host speakers, workshops and a ’scrumptious lunch’.
Hopefully, we’ll all get to hear about the ‘major projects and initiatives which will benefit the people and businesses of Torbay’, even if we didn’t attend.

According to themselves, ‘The South West Debates aim to engage as many people as possible across the region in a dialogue about globalisation – understanding it more fully and working together to develop practical and creative response.’
To that end these guys are leading a half-day globalisation workshop, designed to explore key issues for the region’s economic future. It sounds like a better way to spend your lunchtime than kicking up your heels in Princesshay.
But what does this entail?
Mark Lynas, climate change expert and columnists with The Guardian and the New Statesman and author of Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet, will set out the predicament that is global warming. It takes place at the Exeter Picturehouse between 12.15pm and 1.15pm (with a bit of a book signing and buffet)
And if you’re into bunking off for the afternoon, stick around for the screening of An Inconvenient Truth (£4.50), at 2pm.
