Unique Devon branding

posted by Cptn

How excellent it is to see the newly formed Destination Devon Ltd rising to the challenge of promoting the county as a holiday, err, destination. And what joy that said promotional material focuses on the greener tourism.

But since when has Devon been unique in having two coastlines? We hate to rain on your summer parade, but doesn’t Cornwall have two coastlines, and aren’t they closer together? And who has counted the coastlines of the Isles of Scilly?

But then again it might be our dodgy grasp on the dying art of geography – our official statement of what makes up the ‘South Devon’ of the People’s Republic is anything below the 51st parallel, and we think a Butrus Butrus Root is a former UN General Secretary.

If you can shed any light on the uniqueness of Devon’s two coastlines, email us.
