South Devon has long been a haven for cycling proficiency, and the latest award to two pubescent peddle pushers only goes to show ya. Thomas Reed (15), from Exeter and Daniel McBride (14) from Newton Abbot will pick up £200 each from Devon County Council’s Gifted and Talented fund.

Thomas excels at cycle speedway, and is ranked fourth in Great Britain at Under 16 and Under 19. He won the U19 Indoor Championship in December and came sixth in last year’s World Under 18 Junior Individual event.

Daniel is ranked first in his age group in England and third in Great Britain at BMX. And has had heaps of success since taking up the sport.

Both youngsters rely on their family, and the Gifted and Talented Fund is intended to help with expenses for national and international sporting youngsters.
