Green Devon

The sustained approach to the environment in Devon schools has been picked up in a national publication by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.

Devon schools work with the Environment Directorate, the Dartmoor National Park Authority and other groups to bring ‘real-life challenges through outdoor learning and residential experiences, environmental education and global citizenship initiatives’.

The county also sets out environmental interaction for different age groups.

John Smith, Devon’s Executive Councillor for Children’s Services, told the PRSD: “There are so many pressing global environmental and development challenges.

“One essential response to those challenges is to encourage and support our schools to place increasing emphasis on learning for change.

“Essentially this is about enabling children and young people in Devon to see the links between themselves and the wider natural and social environment and to adopt behaviour and practices that contribute to creating a more just, equitable and environmentally sustainable world.

“Naturally I am delighted that the work we are doing in Devon is now being held up as a national model.”

Rhubarb!

There’s an art to comedy. There’s more of an art to bad comedy. Shucks, it may even be post ironic.

Tonight’s your chance to catch some performance art, from Low Profile, bad comedy, from a couple of those kooks from Dartington, in an evening presented by a two game show hosts. Now that’s Entertainment.

Where could such antics take place? Why Rubarb, on Cornwall Street, Plymouth, that’s where. The fun kicks off at 8pm.
