Book review - The Cellist of Sarajevo

Steven Galloway’s The Cellist of Sarajevo is a remarkable story of four people during the siege of Sarajevo. Each one living in impossible circumstances, in which a single split second wrong decision could mean death from a shell or a sniper’s bullet.
Inspired by the real life shelling of a bakery line in which 22 people were killed and 70 injured, a lone cellist plays at the same spot for 22 days in their memory. Amongst his watchers is a young girl counter-sniper, detailed to protect him. Will she succeed and at what cost to herself? I will be recommending this powerful and emotional novel to all my customers.
