It is undeniable that the Internet has the power to bring out a whole new side to a person, whether it’s good or bad. Sometimes the individual who is quiet, polite, and shy when communicating in person can turn into a raving maniac via email or in chat rooms, spouting their beliefs and feelings with no care as to how they will be interpreted.
Most of us who have posted anything on web forums or taken part in on-line conversations are very likely to have experienced some of this loss of inhibition at some point – whether it be arguing a point a little past the line of common courtesy, using language that you wouldn’t in real life, or alternatively being abused, harassed, or generally insulted by someone who you’re pretty sure wouldn’t be so bold in ‘real life’….
Bank holidays are sooo exciting, especially when you can shuffle your stuff in the sand to the sound of some of the hottest local music around. And that’s exactly what Oddfest is all about at Oddicombe beach bank holiday Monday (August 25) from noon.
Nick Hallam, from DMC (we don’t know if he runs it… geddit?), told the PRSD: “With such gorgeous beaches and such huge music talent growing in and around Torbay it’s time the two got put together and Oddicombe Beach is the perfect venue for this intimate event that makes the best of both.
“The festival does rely on the weather holding, it looks good for the weekend, but we will have to cancel if it’s raining.”
The festival will raise funds for the Project’s free Rock School for young people the festival is free and refreshments, with a full licensed bar, can be bought from the Beach Café, with transport on hand from the unique Oddicombe Cliff Railway.
And just to get you in the mood, here’s Kat Marsh.
