Bovey Climate action win Best Sustainable Energy Community award

posted by Cptn

Hot on the heels of celebrating their second birthday – inviting the likes of Rosie Boycott, no less – Bovey Climate Action has picked up the Regen SW award for Best Sustainable Energy Community.

The award is for the work the group has done in Bovey Tracey to riase awareness of climate change issues and reduce carbon emissions.

Adrian Sargood of Bovey Climate Action said: “We’re taking the lead in our community with a lot of simple things that make a big difference.

“The homes we’ve worked with on the WasteWatcher project have shown a 23% reduction in carbon emissions in just one year from heating, lighting and powering appliances. There’s no mystery about how to do it.

“It’s common sense to be careful about how much energy we consume. We can all reduce our carbon footprint, and save money on our fuel bills too.”

Projects, like the thermal imaging of homes to see how much heat is lost (see the picture), have helped win support through the town and show people the real benefit of achievable energy goals.
