notice how green Paignton is?
.
Take me down to the Paradise City, where the grass is green and the girls are pretty…
Yes, like Guns N’Roses, we get pretty enthusiastic about parks and stuff (notice how the pretty girls are almost an afterthought) – so we can understand why conservationists in Paignton want to protect its seaside greens from future development.
The Paignton Preservation and Local History Society is campaigning for the greens to be given Village Green Status so they are protected against any ‘inappropriate and invasive’ projects.
The society’s appropriately-named chairman Tony Moss said the idea was to give the greens permanent protection so they’re not built on in the future.
He added that the society had filled in more than 144 forms (on recycled paper, we trust) which it will hand over to Torbay mayor Nick Bye in a bid to receive the coveted Village Green Status.
Anyone interested in signing the petition can contact the society on 01803 556969 or 01803 843708.
