Artist Carers called to take part in Caring exhibition

The experience of being a carer can be lonely, demanding and insightful and carer artists are being called to put their ideas forward for a Caring/Carers exhibition and public events for late spring. The deadline for expressing an interest is December 31.

“Being a Carer gives people a unique insight into both the human condition and the human spirit. It can also be a lonely and isolating experience. But, it is in that space, where Carers live and breathe, that creativity and imagination can blossom. And it is that which we seek in this exhibition,” said organiser Ina Hume of Vanishing Rites.

The exhibition is open to people of all ages who are Carers or who have been Carers to submit creative visual, audio, written, spoken word, music or performance art on the theme of Caring/Carers.

The deadlines for expressing an interest is fast approaching. “I need to know if people want to submit something and have an idea of the piece, though they do not necessarily have had to create it by then,” Ina told the PRSD.

“We will also be trying to organise workshops for artists to go in and work with groups of carers who want to create work. This will be early next year, and determined by the demand by the carers groups. We will attempt to match with local carer/artists.

“The main exhibition will be held in bristol, with a smaller touring exhibition following on. The locations for this will be based on the response from different localities. So I cannot promise there will be an event in Devon. There will also be an online gallery so all work submitted can be viewed,” said Ina.
