‘Sing if you’re glad to be one of the top gay-friendly employers in the country’, was, as far as we know, never considered by Tom Robinson for a pop ditty. But it might be chorused now by NHS Plymouth, which has been named by Stonewall in the top 100 of the UK’s best to place work for gay and lesbian people.
The health authority was listed at a robust 88th, and Angela Saxby, NHS Plymouth equality and diversity lead, told the Plymouth Herald: “We are thrilled to be in the Stonewall top 100 Gay employers. It’s a real honour and recognises our commitment to providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for every member of our workforce and for everyone who uses our services.
“NHS Plymouth believes that all people should be treated with dignity, politeness and respect, free from discrimination or harassment.
“Much of our progress over the last year has been through our partnership working with voluntary and community organisations, statutory partners and thanks to the involvement of staff and the local community.”
