The annual lantern-lit musical procession to scare away bad spirits and bring good luck to your orchard – wassailing – is taking place today at Occombe Farm.
A glass jar lantern workshop (you won’t be allowed on the procession if you haven’t made a lantern) lights up at 3.30pm to 4.30pm, and the procession goes on between 4.30pm and 5.30pm.
You are advised to bring a torch and wellies, along with pans and spoons (to make plenty of noise – bad spirits apparently have a sensitive disposition to noise), and a mug to help yourself to apple juice.
It’ll cost £3.50 to take part. The event is run by the Torbay Countryside Tust.
