Our old friends at RegenSW, the region’s sustainability energy agency, has just got £2 million investment from the South West RDA.
And what will it do with the £2 million? Deliver a new business plan, of course!
Oh, and ‘speed up the transition of a low-carbon economy in the South West by unlocking sustainable energy opportunities’ according to the SWRDA, which means… er… we have no idea.
But we do know what ‘championing initiatives that reduce energy demand’ means, that’s ‘will the last one out please turn out the lights’ posters, right?
Backslapping aside, Regen SW has smoothed out the track for sustainable energy businesses with support and advice, to such a degree that, to quote its own figures: “The South West’s sustainable energy sector is worth over £500 million a year to the regional economy, supporting in excess of 7,200 jobs. The renewable energy sector alone has seen a massive 37 per cent year-on-year growth in employment over the last 3 years.”
So that has to be worth £2 million of any quango’s money, even with the jargon?
