Get your voice heard on regional transport plans

The Campaign for Better Transport have pointed out that that regional decision-makers have some really bad ideas, especially where transport is concerned.

They told the PRSD: “The Government has set aside a large pot of money for each of the English regions outside London to spend on big transport projects. At the end of this month, each region will send the Government a wish-list stating what it wants to spend the cash on.

“The process is far from transparent. But because we’re in close contact with some great regional campaigners, we already have a good idea of what’s going to be on those wish-lists.

“Regions could use the money to give public transport a massive boost – by reopening rail lines, for instance. They could use it to make walking and cycling infinitely more pleasant. I’m sure you have plenty of your own ideas about how the money could be spent.

“But although a few are moving in the right direction, most of the regions want to spend most of the money building new roads.”

Take a gander at the transport wish list of the region, and share your concerns with campaigns@bettertransport.org.uk
