Katie Marie‘s been a bit of a guinea pig this week. Not only has she sampled cheese and chocolate pancakes (!), she’s also taken part in a Human Fruit Machine experiment. All in a week’s work for the singer/songwriter who’s Not Bad For A Girl

The highlight of this week has to be Pancake Day, and this year me and my other half decided to have a Pancake Party, in which we would try as many different and weird pancake fillings as we could think of. Most of them worked (a few most definitely didn’t – the main one being cheese and chocolate lol) but my all time fav has to be golden syrup and banana… mmmmm lovely jubbly!
The other highlight of my week was last Sunday afternoon as I had a gig in the Ferry Boat in Shaldon. It was my first visit there and it seems a lovely little gaff full of friendly faces – hope we’ll be back there soon!
Now I don’t suffer with this problem as I don’t drink alcohol (not only am I illergic to it, but I also make a right idiot out of myself and never really want to share this fact in public). But afternoon gigs are always dangerous for my drinking friends, especially one (who I’m dying to name but promised I wouldn’t) who by about 5pm is usually very entertaining indeed!
Last Sunday was no exception and after the gig this particular friend in question very enthusiastically called me over asked me if I would like to try The Human Fruit Machine.
I wasn’t quite sure how to respond to with that question, bearing in mind he was rather merry at this point, but I was curious as to how this Human Fruit Machine worked, and by the look on his little face, it was as if this was the most genious idea he or anyone in the human race had ever come up with.
So after I had said ‘go on then’, my friend got three beer matts, closed his eyes and proceeded to jumble them about in his hands. After a few seconds he rather excitedly put the cards down on the table one by one to see if I’d managed to get a row. It was pretty amusing, especially as putting them down onto the table appeared to be a bit of a challenge.
So I wonder what the next afternoon gig shall bring, I wait with baited breath!
I’ve had lots of lovely people emailing me to ask how the re-decorating in the studio is going (thanks for that, it’s always nice to hear from you!).
The latest update is that I’ve got most of the painting and other stuff now sorted (w-o-o-h-o-o!) I just need to get the floor all finished and then the painful task of re-wiring everything can begin **groan**
For the floor I’m thinking of laying down some swanky carpet in the recording room and painting the live room with some lovely blue paint I got last week.
I did paint all the floors before, and the first time around I was merrily painting away and totally forgot to open any windows or doors and was high as a kite for about a week – so wont be trying that again!!
Anyways I’m off to grab a bite to eat and then meet up with some friends for a good old fashion jam
Have a great week!
