Totnes Rare Breeds Farm urgently needs experienced volunteers to help it finish its winter makeover before opening day on April 4.
The farm, opposite South Devon Steam Railway’s Littlehempston station in Totnes, is home to more than 500 animals including livestock, owls, poultry, hedgehogs, red squirrels as well as domesticated species.
Among the improvements made are better wheelchair access, new pens and a wildlife walkway. Barrie Tolley, who owns Totnes Rare Breeds with his wife Jacquie, said: “It would be smashing to find one or two friendly people who are handy with a rake and who have a bit of time on their hands.”
The award-winning farm opened in 2002 and aims to increase awareness of the importance of maintaining rare breeds and biodiversity.
Anyone interested in helping out should contact Barrie Tolley on 0771 994 5700.
