Dawlish art cafe grant of £26,000 looks at The Lawn venue

The possibility of creating an arts cafe in the heart of Dawlish is being investigated to the tune of £26,000.

The money, from the government’s Sea Change grant programme, will go towards a feasibility study into the creation of an arts cafe at the bandstand on The Lawn, and is part of the regeneration plan for town.

Around £200,000 over three years has been pledged by Teignbridge Council, which will go towards town improvements, including a new youth centre at the recently-saved-from-supermaket Sandy Lane.

It’s certainly hotting up in the arts and culture sphere on that section of south coast In autumn Dawlish’s neighbour, Teignmouth, was awarded £376,676 for a new museum to show off the town’s treasures.
