Torquay town centre businesses told to spruce up their premises before Easter holidays

Torquay town centre businesses are being asked to spruce up their premises in time for the Easter holidays.

The cleaning initiative has been launched by the Torbay Town Centres Company in association with Torbay Council and the police.

A letter to traders said: “We have noticed some premises in the town centre need some minor attention, just a lick of paint, or washing down the fascias would make all the difference to the general appearance of the town.”

It invited traders to make a ‘concerted effort to clean-up the town centre for the start of the tourist season at Easter by ensuring your premises are really tidy and clean and ensuring it stays fresh’.

Oggy Oggy Pasty in Fleet Street was the only shop contacted by thisissouthdevon to say they wouldn’t be taking part in the scheme.

Assistant manager Diane Carter bristled: “No, we won’t be taking part. The shop hasn’t been long painted.”
