Three men and two women from Plymouth and the surrounding area have been arrested in connection with a suspected plot designed for the forthcoming G20 summit.
The Guardian reports that it’s thought the five people intended to disrupt rather than injure or kill at the conference.
Assistant chief constable of Devon and Cornwall police, Paul Netherton, said the investigation began after a man was arrested for graffiti on a wall in Plymouth city centre.
The resulting search found imitation firearms, improvised explosives and material related to political ideology.
The five, who were arrested over the weekend, were being held under the Terrorism Act.
