Torbay Care Trust is to open an NHS stop-smoking service and a young people’s advice centre in two empty units in Union Street, Torquay.
The ‘shops’ are designed to make it even easier for local people to access advice and support.
The Stop Smoking shop will give local people access to instant appointments and free advice about quitting as well as details about the longer-term support available.
The second shop, Health Wise Torbay, will provide young people with confidential advice and support about every aspect of health and wellbeing – from alcohol to sun safety, sexual health and bullying.
Debbie Stark, Torbay Care Trust’s acting director of public health, told thisissouthdevon: “These new shops will make getting expert health and lifestyle advice in Torquay as easy as popping into a shop to pick up a pint of milk.”
The trust hopes to open the shops between April 20 and 27 with separate launch events.
