PRSD hopes to stimulate election debate on Twitter with #devonelection

As the June 4 election of Devon County Councillors and European Members of Parliament looms nearer, we thought we’d tell you about our desire to elicit Twitter-esque election addresses (that’s 140 characters) from all those seeking the vote. And we’re hoping to stimulate electoral debate and involvement with #devonelection on Twitter.

It may be taking soundbite politics to ridiculous levels, but we figured their brevity was the only way for us to maintain our sanity – and interest vast swathes of the population who otherwise wouldn’t wander to the voting booth.

Of course candidates don’t have to be on Twitter to get in touch, they can email info@peoplesrepublicofsouthdevon.co.uk, but they must keep their election address to the PRSD to 140 characters, or fewer (if not, we reserve the right to edit them).

Hopefully, all the candidates will supply us with words of their intent in the interest of democracy, but you never know. So pass this message on to anyone who is standing.

Meanwhile, we’re hoping that as election fever hots up (reaching swine fever type heights) we’ll be able to follow the electoral shenanigans with #devonelection
