The Barbican International Jazz and Blues Festival’s youth photography competition IMPROVISE! has been won by Felix Stephens, of Marlborough, Wiltshire, with his photo Bird/Bird Lives (up trees!) – that’s a reference to Charlie Parker to those missing their beep bop reflex.
The picture shows 10-year-old Felix practising his cello on a deer-stalking platform up a tree in the Savernake Forest in Wiltshire and was shot by Tanya Cochrane.
The picture will be on show at the Barbican B-Bar throughout the festival (May 1-10).
Oh, and Felix was playing The Swan by Saint Saens, thanks for asking.
