Katie Marie‘s back is better, but with fresh interest from the Windy City, plus elsewhere, it was worthwhile being laid low. Plus, musicians, submit your sounds to Katie Marie’s Acoustic PM show. Read on to find out more

I’m happy to report that my back is oodles better and I’ve been able to walk around and do stuff, yay!
This week has been full of good stuff, the lovely hot weather being a great start to it all!
As you may remember from last week’s article, as I’d wrecked my poor back I was spending my time at home sending off lots of emails and press packs to various important peeps. Well, I had my first reply from one of them, and the news is good.
I applied to have my music included in a promo CD called Women in Music and there were only two slots available so I thought my chances were pretty slim, but guess what? They picked my song Change to be included!. This CD is being distributed to loads of Chicago-based radio stations, which is wonderful as any promo opportunities are always hugely appreciated! Find out more about the Women in Music CD.
And four of the other listings I applied for have got in touch to say they’re interested – I’ll keep you updated on any changes!
Last week’s Acoustic PM show was loads of fun and I had my first lot of post at the Soundart Studios – horrah! A local band called Small Hours had posted me a CD to check out and play on the show, all sounded really good. I’m still loving having my own radio show and it still blows me away that people are *actually* listening!! I had seven requests for various tunes to be played before I even got to the studio, and as I said over the mic on last week’s show – it’s really good fun being at the Soundart studio playing all this wonderful music, but it’s even more fun when people take the time out to get in touch and be a part of it.
I’ve also been spending lots of time in my lovely studio, which every time I step in there I’m sooooo appreciating all the hard work I put in to re-decorating it all (just in case you don’t know, I had a big flood in my studio just before Crimbo and I had to re-decorate the whole thing!! And it took me nearly five months to get it all done as I had to do it all in my spare time… eeek! lol).
It’s so brilliant to be back in my creative space again with all my musical gear around me. I’ve been busy trying to organise my catalog of tunes, as I’ve got all sorts of random bits ‘n’ bobs on my ‘pooter and it really needed organising… badly! lol These days I just let myself write what ever I feel like writing, weather it’s acoustic or cheesy or poppy or an instrumental track. I just go with it and see what happens! So now all these random creations are organised into their appropriate files… ahhhh, that’s better!
The guys from Papa Fernando also popped into the studio this week to begin recording a demo CD, we’re hoping to get 3-4 tracks down and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the end result will be like – I’ll letcha know!
Anyways I’d best head off, I’ve got a busy day today – I’m playing up at More Restaurant this afty and then I have to go straight off to band practise with Dan Crisp – so hope you have a wonderful rest of the week and thanks a lot for reading as always!
