Up to £400,000 on offer to enterprising rural villages

Rural villages of fewer than 3,000 people could get between £100,000 and £400,000 for a new project if they apply before August 14.

The money is available through Village SOS, an initiative from the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) and the BBC. What you’ll need, along with your fewer than 3,000 souls, is a ‘great’ business idea and an enterprising individual to act as Village Champion.

The whole process will be filmed and is due to be screened on BBC One in the winter of 2010.

They are on the lookout of six villages.

For more details and to apply visit the Village SOS websites at the Big Lottery Fund or the BBC, phone them on 0844 88 88 677 or email general.enquiries@biglotteryfund.org.uk
