Funds available to keep families in their homes during the recession

Families at risk of homelessness through repossession or eviction in Mid Devon could receive financial to secure their housing future.

Mid Devon council has got wind of its share of the governmental funding to help people in genuine financial need to stay in their homes.

This one-off extra funding will enable the council to extend its prevention funds to homeowners and help tenants in the social or private rented sectors who – through no fault of their own – are struggling with their rental payments in the current climate and face eviction.

Portfolio Holder for Housing Councillor Ray Stanley said: “While the additional assistance is fairly limited in terms of the size of loan available, it does mean that we can help more people in financial difficulties.

“If you are worried about your home, do take this opportunity to contact us straight away to seek help – it’s confidential and may make all the difference.”

For more information about this, or any other aspect concerning their housing needs, people are advised to contact the Mid Devon District Council Housing Advice Team on 01884 234906.
