The Totnes Tories have picked their candidates to fight it out to fight the next General Election. They are Nick Bye, the oft reviled mayor of Torbay, Sarah Randall Johnson, who led East Devon into spend at least £175,000 to fight the Devon unitary plans, and Dr Sarah Wollaston, a, er GP.
These three now go on to fight an ‘open primary’ for all the 69,000 voters in Totnes to decide which will stand in the luxurious shadows of Anthony Steen.
Our money is on Dr Sarah Wollaston, but that’s only because we don’t know anything about her.
Of course, we could be wrong. Who would you vote for? Comments below, please.

The interview questions have been leaked by Totnes Tory HQ and are copied below:
1. So you are in a rush, you see a disabled parking space, what do you do?
2. Your mansion needs refurbishing, do you (a) pay for it yourself (b) get the taxpayer to pay for it (c)get the taxpayer to pay for it and then accuse them of jealousy because they live in hovels
3. Which word best describes you: Immoral. Amoral. Balmoral.
Unfortunately the responses have not been leaked.
Nick Bye??? You are welcome to him.
Should fit the bill well as a replacement for Steen, one idiot for another!
Please, please, please vote for Sarah Randall-Johnson if only to save East Devon from her!
This is Mrs Thatcher’s clone – talks like her, walks like her.
Currently she is a director of Flybe and a Tory county councillor for Honiton (nearest town to Exeter Airport? Honiton).
Vote for her if you want a runway in your back garden. Vote for her if you want her to spend ALL her allowances fighting Devon unitisation.
Green? Forget it – the brightest, brightest shade of blue imaginable. Probably thinks global warming is a communist plot.
Nick Bye is presunably in favour of unitary authorities and S R-J is presumably against them although she will probably lose interest in the subject if selected. This looks like a lack of unity in the Tory party.
But then again that would presume there are any principles involved rather than a lust for power. I guess Sarah couldn’t get selected for Honiton so she has been touting herself to every Tory party in the South West.
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a Travelodge, balloon
And a swinging hot spot.
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
They took the Torbay palms
Put ‘em in Torre Abbey Museum
And they charged the people
£6.25 just to see ‘em.
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
Hey Farmer Mackerel
Put away those GM seeds now
Give me spots on my apples
But leave me the birds and the bees
Please!
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
Late last night
I heard the screen door slam
And a big Totnes taxi
Took away the Mayoral Man.
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
Till its gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot.

Sorry, mate, she’s been there for yonks as leader and all that stuff got bad – really bad – on her watch and even now is only approaching average – from red to amber not to green.
But if you want someone to the right of Mrs Thatcher, she’s your woman!
James, does she also turn water into wine, if you believe that councillors have any affect on performance then you you need help
Don’t vote for ‘nobby’ Nick Bye. He is so keen on getting the post that he has basically ditched his day job for Torbay. Vote for anyone but Nick Bye.
