Devon Social Media Cafe brews up the power of social media with first Plymouth meeting

Devon Social Media Cafe launches today (Tuesday, September 15) at Bar HaHa in Plymouth from 6.30pm.

Aren Grimshaw, one of the organisers of the Cornwall Social Media Cafe will be speaking about the Cornish Twestival, a charity event organised by social media users which managed to raise over £2,500 for the CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) charity.

But hands up the first person who spots the irony.

“Among the VIP guests who have booked their places are Leader of Plymouth City Council, Councillor Vivien Pengelly, and Shadow Leader of Plymouth City Council, Councillor Tudor Evans, who is a prolific user of social media websites such as Twitter,” say the Devon Social Media people.

Both will doubtless tell the audience about the lessons they learnt from Plymouth City Council’s Twitter-gate scandal and the importance of their on-going involvement in social media. Doubtless.
