According to the BBC, Seaton Town Council asked residents who they preferred as developers of a new supermarket, Tescos or Sainsbury’s; 95% said Sainsburys.
East Devon District Council held a meeting this week, where “the great majority of speakers favoured the Northern [Sainsbury's] store”.
Nevertheless, the outcome of the council was a seven to one vote in favour of Tesco, despite the opinions of the people of Seaton and the views expressed by members of the public.
What puzzles us is why ask the views of residents if you aren’t going to take any notice.
