Torridge chief exec, John van de Laarschot, may be off to Stoke

With the sufficiently informative title of ‘Man recommended as council chief’ – which narrows it down a bit we suppose – the BBC has said that John van de Laarschot, from Torridge District Council has been recommended as chief executive for Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

At least there’ll be no annoying unitary debates up there…

Ross Irving, Stoke-on-Trent’s city council leader, said John had done marvellous job in Torridge, turning it from a poorly performing council to an excellent one, and that “he’ll come with, shall I say, some fresh ideas and sort of thinking outside the box”.

What changes has John van de Laarschot made in Torridge? Has he been ‘thinking outside the box’?

Let us know your thoughts. Comments below, please.
