Exeter Northcott hosts English Touring Opera for Handelfest – the largest in Europe

The largest festival of Handel operas is coming to the Exeter Northcott to mark the 250th anniversary of the composer’s death, with five fully staged productions from English Touring Opera raising their voice in Handelfest from Tuesday, November 3 to Saturday, November 7.

The line up could almost be a Craig David song: Flavio on Tuesday, Acina on Wednesday; Tolomeo on Thursday; Ariodante on Friday, and on Saturday it’s Teseo. (Or something like that.)

A fireworks spectacular is planned for Bonfire Night, when the whole of the Exeter Northcott foyer will be like up in the Digital Fireworks event.

This is combined with educational workshops and performances for youngsters. ‘In the Belly of the Horse’, the third part in a brand-new mythological opera trilogy for primary schools, and According to Handel’, a composition workshop for 13-18 year olds.

And there will be Pre-performance talks before each show at 6.30pm at Exeter Northcott

Plus, two young singers from Exeter get to play Medea’s children in Teseo.

To get the full low-down of the epic five nighter (and a better Handel on it, snarf) go over to our Arts+Culture site.
