
The Exeter University literary magazine Riptide has bagged Orange Prize winning author novelist and poet Helen Dunmore to read at the launch event of its fourth volume.
Helen, will be reading a previously unpublished story, told our Arts+Culture site: “I’m impressed with the flair and determination that Riptide’s editors have shown in getting this excellent short story magazine off the ground. Readers and writers have much to gain from Riptide’s existence.”
Riptide’s editors are Ginny Baily and Sally Flint, and they’ve lined up 17 stories for the magazine’s fourth edition, including pieces by Henry Shukman, Nicolas Hogg. Jane Feaver, whose interlinked collection of short stores Love Me Tender, has recently been published Harvill Secker has written the introduction.

• The launch, which takes place on Wednesday, October 14, includes music, light drinks and readings and is open to all members of the public. The free event is at the University of Exeter and starts at 5.45pm in the Queens Buildings Senior Common Room and Lecture Theatre One.
Volume 4 of Riptide is now available to buy online or from selected book shops.
